Trefoil is a La Belle Lucie variant where the Aces are removed and placed on foundations before play begins. The remaining 48 cards are dealt in 16 fans of three. Like La Belle Lucie, you can only move the top card of each fan, and you get two redeals. Starting with Aces on foundations makes the opening easier, but the game remains strategically deep.
